Faculty of Pharmacy, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences has inaugurated its new model Drug Information Centre (DIC) on 8^th September, 2022 in the premises of Ramaiah Medical Teaching Hospital, Bengaluru. 

The DIC was inaugurated by Dr. M. R. Jayaram, Honourable Chancellor, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. The guests of honour for the ceremony were Shri. M.R. Sreenivasa Murthy, Chief Executive-GEF (M), Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Raina, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Om Prakash Kharbanda, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences) & Dr. P. N. Razdan, Principal Advisor, Quality Assurance and Excellence Cell. 

Dr. S. Bharath, Dean — Faculty of Pharmacy welcomed the dignitaries and informed the gathering about the accomplishments of Department of Pharmacy Practice. Dr. G. R. Saraswathy, Head — Department of Pharmacy Practice elaborated the functions and services rendered by the Drug Information Centre. 

The Chancellor in his presidential address expressed that in the current scenario, the Drug Information Centre and its services are of paramount importance in clinical practice. Other dignitaries emphasized the need to establish multidisciplinary research collaborations with hospital and other faculties, Academia – Industry collaborations in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility and extrapolation of drug information services to poison information service in future. 

Various services offered at DIC includes evidence-based drug information, answering drug information queries, patient counselling, recommendation of dose adjustments for special populations, identification and reporting of drug-drug and drug-food interactions, medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
