National Pharmacist Day Celebration


The Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy, organized Art of Pharma” commemorating National Pharmacist Day on 12 Jan 2024. The event aimed to recognize and honor all pharmacists across the nation and also showcasing their vital role in health care. Dr. R. S. Thakur, Professor (Rtd), Former Registrar cum Secretary, Pharmacy Council of India graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

The event commenced with a welcome note by Dr. S. Bharath, Dean, followed by an informative and interactive session by the Chief Guest. He elaborated on the role of Pharmacists in health care while breaking the notion that pharmacists are not confined only to dispensing counters. Dr. Thakur in his summary expressed that pharmacists contribute significantly to the healthcare system by promoting safe and effective medication use, improving patient adherence, and enhancing overall health outcomes. Their roles may vary depending on the healthcare setting, whether it be in community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, or other healthcare facilities.

Ms. Thanuja N K, Assistant Professor & Coordinator of Art of Pharma, shared the glimpses of event and expressed various competitions such as Slogan Writing with the theme Pharmacist in Healthcare”, Poster Making with India — The Global Pharma Hub” as the theme, Reels and Short Film Making, and Model Making were held to exhibit a diverse range of creativity of budding pharmacists, accentuating the blend of science and art within the pharmaceutical realm. A total of 115 students participated in the competition. Originality and Uniqueness, Clarity and Precision, Relevance to the Theme, Emotional Impact, Language, and Tone were considered to judge the participants, and Winners were declared.

Dr. J. Anbu, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology delivered the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to all the faculty members and students of Panpharmacon Student Club for meticulously planning the event. Further Pharmacist oath was sworn marking the day by faculty members and students pledging to uphold ethical principles and commitments throughout their professional careers. The program concluded with a Rally, raising awareness about the indispensable role of pharmacists in the healthcare system.
