At the Faculty of Pharmacy, a contemporary and comprehensive curriculum is complemented with rigorous practical learning and is implemented by experienced scholars. The application-based approach to learning and a strong emphasis on research ensures that students are well-prepared for the world of work.

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and academic research programs.

Studying at FPH

As a part of the Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, FPH adopts the University’s approach to education. Multidisciplinary thinking is encouraged, an agile and comprehensive curriculum is implemented, and outcome-based learning is pursued.

Proctorial System

The University follows a proctorial system under which every student is assigned a faculty member as a proctor/mentor. This ensures that students are closely guided through their academic and professional careers.

Application-based Learning

An education in the field of pharmacy is incomplete without a strong grounding in application-based, practical learning.

At FPH, students learn under the guidance of experienced practitioners and knowledgeable scholars. They are given the opportunity to explore and better understand theoretical concepts in the labs and research centres of the Faculty.

Most importantly, however, students receive training in specialties like Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Medical Oncology, Nephrology, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Medicine, and General Surgery at the Memorial Hospital and Medical College Hospital on campus. This allows students to observe and learn the effectiveness and efficacy of drug delivery systems, their shortcomings, and any adverse impact they might have. It also gives them a chance to conduct patient counselling and respond to queries on drug information.

These efforts by the Faculty ensure that students enter the workforce with the skills necessary to meet the healthcare needs of society.

Internships

Students are actively encouraged to take up internships with leading organisations and research bodies. These give them a chance to observe and understand the real-world workings of their field. Internships also help plug any existing gaps in their knowledge and prepare students to approach theoretical learning with a strong, practical focus.

Research

Innovation is dictated by research. Comprehensive studies, thorough analysis, and evidence-based findings help ensure a scientific approach to out-of-the-box thinking and inventions.

At FPH, the focus of our research is on areas like pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry and analysis, and pharmacognosy. The aim is to contribute to the field of pharmacy by improving upon existing knowledge and by discovering more effective and more affordable drug delivery systems.

In order to extend support and encouragement to faculty members, students, and researchers, the Faculty has established two well-equipped research centres and has also forged numerous collaborative research relationships.

Student Projects

Projects give students a chance to put their theoretical learning to the test. They promote a deeper understanding of subject matter and are yet another avenue for students to hone their skills.

Projects are perfected under the close guidance and encouragement of faculty members. Students thus learn to work independently, while also being reassured of the support of experienced professionals should they stumble along the way.
